Hello, alfra.dev
Why this site exists, why it runs on Loopar, and what I'll be writing about.
This is the first post on alfra.dev, and it's a small milestone: the site you're reading is a Loopar app — the open-source framework I've been building.
Why a personal site now
For a long time my work was spread across repositories, client sites and half-finished notes. I wanted one place that links it all together: the products I build, the client work running in production, and what I learn along the way.
Why build it with Loopar
I could have used a static site generator. But dogfooding is the best test a framework can get. To publish this blog I added a generic Post entity to Loopar's core, so every Loopar site can now have a blog with the same collection element that already lists projects and services. If something felt clumsy while building this site, that's a bug I now get to fix.
What I'll write about
- Building a framework: architecture decisions in Loopar — multi-tenancy, the designer, moving the data layer to Knex
- Shipping to real businesses: what restaurants, contractors and cleaning companies actually need from software
- The path: from Computer Engineering at UNITEC in Honduras, to PHP and ERPNext, to building my own tools in Boston
If any of that sounds useful, check back — or say hello.
